Arborvitae for St. Louis privacy screens

Arborvitae is the plant most people mean when they ask for a living fence. It works when the soil drains and the plants get enough sun. It disappoints in a wet, shady hole, which is why we look at the spot before we line them up.

Emerald Green stays narrower. Green Giant is the fast, tall screen. Golden Globe is a round accent, not a hedge. Nigra is the darker green column. We plant all four from our nursery when the site fits.
